It’s definitely time to celebrate.

10 Free Webinars on How to Market and Promote Your Language or Literacy Program

Over the next 10 weeks, I’m going to host a free webinar every week. Each one will highlight different ideas from 101 Ways to Market Your Language Program. Every week you’ll get practical, low-cost ideas to help you promote any language or literacy program. Best of all, you’ll get to connect with others on line who are also interested in the same topic, ask questions and interact.

The webinars will be 30 to 60 minutes in length. Bring a pen and paper. I’m going to give you lots of ideas you can implement right away.

We’ll do the webinars for the next ten Wednesdays: March 21 to May 23, 2012

This is essentially a 10-week course designed to take you through the entire book from beginning to end. I’ll include some marketing “best practices” and show you how to start thinking about promoting your programs to ensure they are sustainable over the long term. I’ll share some case studies and stories, along with lots of practical “how to” information that you can use right away.

Webinar: How to Develop a Social Media Policy

Social media has changed how people interact with each other on line. Marketers talk about social media strategies, but that is different from an organizational policy that is designed to guide and govern users’ behaviour in social media settings. This course is based on this article “Anatomy of a Social Media Policy” that I wrote last fall, published by Social Media Today.

Resource: Harry Potter in Translation: Making Language Learning Magical

Recently I did a virtual presentation for Idaho State University on how to use Harry Potter in translation to teach international languages. The presentation highlighted the Harry Potter in Translation project at the University of Calgary’s Language Research Centre.

The materials I prepared for the presentation included 5 lesson plans on how to use Harry Potter in translation in language classes.

Webinar programs for professionals offered by Chinook Learning

I’m thrilled to be working with Chinook Learning to help them launch their brand new webinar program, starting in January. We have put together a series of webinar aimed at professionals in the corporate and non-profit sectors.

The new programs include:

Each program is $45 CAD. Organizations can pay one fee and have a number of participants watch the program from around a boardroom using one common computer to show the webinar. This is excellent value for organizations looking for inexpensive professional development.

All the programs are offered from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time, so they work as a “workplace lunch and learn” program.

Since all of these programs are offered via webinar, registrants from around the globe are welcome to attend.

How to Build, Design and Use Google Forms

Learn how to build, design and use Google forms for educational contexts such as:

  • registration forms for events
  • sign-up forms for volunteers
  • sign-up forms for intramurals
  • program evaluation
  • any other uses you can think of

This one-hour “how to” session goes step by step to show you everything you need to know. By the end of this session you should be ready to build your own forms with ease. In case you need a refresher, this program includes a take-home manual in .pdf format so you can easily remember the steps later on when you need them.
